SAS Day at Texas A&M
An event hosted by the Department of Statistics at Texas A&M University and led by Dr. Simon Sheather, Professor and Academic Director MS(Analytics) & MS(Statistics) online at Texas A&M University’s Department of Statistics.This event will highlight speakers from the SAS Institute, Inc. and industry experts that will discuss topics including analytics and data mining to make better business decisions. A panel of experts from industry will discuss how their companies are using big data and analytics, and how they are fostering a fact-based decision making culture in their companies. The number of participants is limited.

Principal Research Statistician in Advanced Analytics
SAS Research & Development
Kenneth Sanford is a Principal Research Statistician in Advanced Analytics R&D and an econometric evangelist at SAS. He is responsible for helping to integrate the advanced analytical procedures being created by the development team into SAS' business solutions. Sanford joined SAS after working for a large private consulting firm and holding faculty positions at the University of Cincinnati and Middle Tennessee State University. His work on optimal pricing has been published in the Southern Economic Journal and the Journal of Sports Economics. He holds a PhD in economics from the University of Kentucky.
Senior Digital Oil Field Advisor
Philippe Flichy is Senior Digital Oil Field Advisor at Baker Hughes. He oversees Digital Oil Field technology projects and implementations. He has over a dozen years of experience in this field which he joined from the 2002 Salt Lake Olympics where he was in charge of the Info system delivering all the games results internally and to the official web site. He is an active member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers where he sits on many committees. Philippe graduated from Boston University in Management Information System. Philippe is a Board Member of TiE Houston, the Houston chapter of a worldwide entrepreneurial network strong of 61 chapters in 18 countries.

Anton's work at Baker Hughes predicted impact of price changes on customer spending and on demand for product lines, leveraging 3,500 different factors; enhanced forecasting accuracy in oil rig count model – from 90% to 97.6%; created highly accurate (8.5% error rate) crude oil price model that predicted the deflation in WTI crude oil prices at the end of 2014; and enabled executive teams to make more informed decisions for optimal capital allocation – driving opportunistic investments.

Previously he was a faculty member at the Australian Graduate School of Management at the University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia.
